Baymont by Wyndham Grand Junction

Friendly people, clean and well-kept, with a beautiful pool and lovely green space. The rooms are large and have patios. This is a great hotel, and it’ll be my go-to when I’m in GJ.

The room was tidy and clean, though a bit dated like the rest of the hotel. We were glad the parking area was closed off, since we felt safe leaving our trailer and ATV there while we went out. We had a first-floor room with sliding doors and a patio, which was nice. Breakfast was just standard eggs, sausage, waffles, and similar fare. They could clean the patio better: ours had an empty Crown Royal bottle, cigarette butts, and what was left from a spleef. We were crossing the country and found the stay okay, about what I expected, neither great nor bad.

The pool answer from the front desk clerk was pretty hedged, and she gave me the impression she wouldn’t go in it herself. My room smelled strongly of bug spray and disinfectant. The hall carpets were stained and dirty, and the hotel overall felt rundown and smelly.

I’ve been waiting more than three weeks for my $100 deposit, and I still can’t reach a real person for help. I was a walk-in and don’t have a reservation inquiry number. Because my ID had an old local address, they required an extra deposit and said it would be returned at checkout. I made sure to ask, and even waited for housekeeping to inspect the room. I only slept there for maybe six hours. They need a way for an actual person to take responsibility for issues like this. It wasn’t worth $180.
