Homewood Suites by Hilton Grand Rapids Downtown

The mattress was VERY hard, and as seniors we’re used to a nice pillow-top mattress to ease our aches. Sadly, we didn’t get much restful sleep. But the front desk people were friendly and helpful, and the kitchen staff deserve a shout-out for a wonderful breakfast. There were the usual waffles, bagels, and omelettes, plus fun extras like chicken wings and chia pudding. WELL DONE!! Our kids gave us this stay while we went to the Home and Garden show. The room exceeded our expectations, with a full kitchen, beautiful furnishings, and pampering bathroom towels. The hair care and body wash smelled amazing. We’ll definitely recommend this place to others.

I’m somewhat claustrophobic and hadn’t realized the hotel has rooms with no windows facing outdoors. I hadn’t booked a “city view” room, but Julia at reception was especially helpful and accommodated my need for windows looking outside. We stayed here for a couple of days in late February, and I was impressed by her help.

The room was about the size of a large apartment and had everything we needed. Breakfast was great, and the lobby was very clean. We were in town for a wedding, and the location right across from the venue and reception was perfect. I called the same day to change our reservation, and Lexi at the front desk helped from that call through check-in and checkout. She was amazing, and I couldn’t have asked for better service. Five stars for the service, room, location, and cleanliness. Thanks so much to Lexi for such a warm welcome. Highly recommend.

The included breakfast was incredible, and the coffee was decent. My bed was comfortable, the room was large, and it had good facilities. But I was put in room 318, which had no window to the outside, just one looking onto the atrium on the ground floor. It made me uncomfortable, like someone could easily see me in my tighty whiteys. Never again in 318.
