Sunset Inn

I’ve stayed in two or three hotels every week for work, and this was the worst one I’ve been to. The room was dirty: stained towels, a grimy coffee pot, stained nightstand, scratched and damaged furniture, and a filthy microwave and fridge. At check-in, the front desk guy greeted me professionally and sorted out parking for our trailer without any trouble. But after we came back inside to finish checking in, he was rude, curt, and seemed not to care that we’d chosen to stay there. He kept our key cards after check-in and walked us to the room. He used them to open the door, went in first, then stood there silently while I entered. It felt completely uncomfortable, even as a six-foot man. Women, do not stay here.

We showed up with a limping car and plenty of anxiety, but the manager and the people who live there took care of everything. We slept soundly without worrying, and the manager was there with us again in the morning to help us get back on the road. What incredible people. We’ll never stay anywhere else. Ten out of five stars!

The room was really nice, and I loved having a fridge and microwave right there. The staff were so friendly. I’ll stay again!

For $200, our room had three beds, which was a nice surprise. The hosts were friendly during the brief check-in and checkout chats. Still, this was one of the worst hotels I’ve stayed in, and I wouldn’t come back. We arrived at 11:00pm and had to be on the road before 6:00am. The cheaper price seemed worth trying, and I don’t mind a place being old or run down if it’s inexpensive. But cleanliness matters to me. The towels and sheets didn’t look dirty, so I gave it two stars, though the furniture, end tables, and floor were gross. Only one person in our group showered. I didn’t want to walk barefoot on that floor.
