The Buxton Inn

We went to the Buxton Inn for its haunted past and asked for either Room 7 or 9, since those were said to have the most activity. Getting one was no problem, and the staff were fun, upbeat, and knew plenty about the stories. The place has a pretty, nostalgic feel, with big rooms and an updated bathroom. Those beds are really, really tall, though, and hard to climb into. We had a great time and would definitely recommend it.

For Mom’s 79th birthday, we treated her to one night at TyFy Mam. Our suite was clean and roomy, and the front desk person was pleasant and helpful, showed us in, offered to bring ice, and checked back with us. We hadn’t realized the restaurant would be closed, though that wasn’t surprising on a weekday. There are plenty of places to eat and shop just a short walk away.

My sister and I liked the property’s charm and the lovely room, and the town around it was a pleasure to explore. The staff were kind and helpful throughout. We’d booked two nights, then enjoyed ourselves enough to add one more. We’d happily recommend the place.

The soft bedding was the one real bright spot for us. We stayed one night in the raspberry suite, and the heat wasn’t working properly. There were several stains on the area rug, and one spot in the bathroom floor felt soft, with the vinyl flooring seeming to hold it together. Breakfast was practically nonexistent. Check-in also took several minutes of waiting before anyone came to the desk, so I called the hotel number. The clerk who helped us was very congenial. This is the oldest inn in Ohio, and the historic setting may appeal if you’re into that, but it badly needs repairs.
