Spark by Hilton Grapevine DFW North

The room was clean and quiet, and there were plenty of places to eat nearby. What stood out most was the staff. Mursheda helped throughout my stay, including extending it and arranging a later checkout. Alex was also kind and helpful with a special breakfast request after I got back to my room from work at 4 a.m. Both were respectful, professional, and caring. I had a great experience at the Spark by Hilton and would recommend the hotel and its team.

The room is small and basic, and that metal chair at the desk made it uncomfortable to sit and work. Still, the beds were surprisingly comfortable, the water pressure was good, and I liked having a microwave and refrigerator. The morning bagel bar was nice, too. I had to leave a couple of days early because of an issue during my stay. I didn’t ask for a refund or anything to make it right, but the family managing the hotel chose to refund me anyway when I checked out. They treated me with more kindness than I’ve ever had at a hotel, and they seem like good, honest people. If you want to save a bit and need a safe, pleasant place for a couple of days, Spark by Hilton in Grapevine is a good option.

The little pool was clean and refreshing, and the staff were friendly. The shuttle will take you where you need to go, and there are plenty of places nearby to walk to or get to easily by Uber or Uber Eats. My king room had a chair and small desk, a good sized TV, and nice hot water. It’s an updated older hotel and was pretty decent. My one problem was the coin laundry: the front desk didn’t have quarters, so as a semi truck driver I couldn’t get my laundry done during my stay. I’d stay here again.

The staff were very nice and accommodating, and the beds were comfortable and clean. But the photos make this hotel look far better than it is. As a photographer, I have to give their photographer credit. The whole place smelled old, musty, and moldy. One of our two rooms smelled so bad, like mold and vomit covered with sanitizer or disinfectant, that it was obnoxious and made our lungs feel like they were burning. We asked to move. The next rooms were musty too, but we took them because nothing else was available. The AC helped at first, but the smell came back whenever it was just blowing air. It seemed like the carpet may have dried while still holding the odor. I could smell urine in the carpet when I lay down, so I had to turn toward the middle of the bed. The rooms have been renovated, but not all the way: the tiles were worn and cracked in places, and the bathroom grout looked old and dingy. It felt like the renovation was done for the photos and bookings. Breakfast was the saddest breakfast bar I’ve been to. I don’t know if Hilton chains are usually like this, since we normally stay at Marriott, but there were no pancakes, waffles, or protein besides boiled eggs. Most of it was boxed food, cereal, two kinds of bagels, and one kind of muffin. Seriously sad.
