Wingate by Wyndham Great Falls

My ground-floor ADA room had everything I needed, and the staff handled check-in and checkout quickly and efficiently. They were very polite. I also got an unexpected snack bar and water when I checked in, which was a refreshing treat. Breakfast was delicious and nicely presented, and the person keeping it stocked was cheerful. A very nice hotel, and definitely somewhere I’d return to.

I rarely leave bad reviews, and I know any industry can have one-off problems. The location deserves 5 stars: it’s close to downtown and the event we were attending. I’d give service 3 stars. The front desk attendant was nice, and when I accidentally ended up with two online reservations after my first card didn’t seem to process, they explained it was a common issue and didn’t charge me for both rooms. Room quality gets 0-1 stars. The walk from the lobby felt unsettling, with bright yellow striped wallpaper and geometric blue carpet that reminded me of a psych ward. A strong chemical pool smell filled the first floor. Our non-smoking room clearly seemed to have been smoked in. It looked like either someone had taken the art off the walls or maintenance hadn’t done a good job spackling and painting. Details like the crooked TV and damaged lamp shades made it seem as if nobody cared about the stay. The water never got hot.

There were about 10 box elder bugs in the room. They’re harmless, but it grossed me out. The room was small but clean and adequate. It’s an older hotel, though the bed was comfortable and the staff were great and accommodating. For the price, I think I’d stay somewhere else next time I’m in town.

The rooms were clean, the bed was comfortable, and the rates were very affordable. That felt like a fair trade for an outdated building, older carpeting, and fewer USB ports and outlets. You can walk to the mall if you can safely cross a very busy street, and there are several places to eat nearby. The airport isn’t far either.
