Hawthorn Extended Stay by Wyndham Green Bay

The front desk guy was helpful, but he was alone on a Friday evening, answering a constantly ringing phone while also clearing snow around the pool and office. He clearly needed more help. In daylight, the buildings and landscaping looked neglected, and the screen doors for the sliding glass doors were leaning against the walls instead of attached. Our first room had snow and salt tracks across the floor, a stained couch, and hair all over the bed. The desk moved us to another room, where the floor and bed seemed clean, though only marginally better. After seeing that first room, I was left wondering how clean either really was. The 3.8 rating and online photos are very misleading. I wish I’d read the reviews before booking this dump.

We moved to a second room, but it was no better. With dangerous wind chills and our things already packed up and moved once, we couldn’t face doing it again. The beds looked clean, but there was debris on the floors, long hair everywhere, a dirty refrigerator shelf, hair in the bathroom, dried food on the walls, and grease on the stove. The rooms need repairs and updating, which we could have managed if they were clean. They weren’t. I wouldn’t return.

All you smell outside is weed. They also charge a $50 deposit at check-in. The room was dirty and things were broken, so bring your own cleaning supplies. Workers had their children with them while working. The online pictures don’t look like this place at all. I’m sure they’re from opening day. I have pictures, and you’d run if you saw them. I’ll be posting them on TripAdvisor.

We slept well, had no noise problems, and the staff was nice at check-in. The bed, couch, and desk chair were comfortable, and the kitchen looked pretty clean. Still, the place needs better cleaning and upkeep, and I wouldn’t recommend staying here. Outside our second-floor room, the building looked neglected, with cobwebs everywhere, a dirty-looking exterior, and a washcloth left on the stairs. There were cobwebs inside too, stains on some furniture, and the toilet didn’t look clean, whether it hadn’t been cleaned or was stained. The furniture stains weren’t a huge deal, since hotel rooms get constant use. We’d seen some reviews before booking, but hoped they were isolated bad experiences. Sadly, many of them were right.
