Mariner Motel

Chris the Manager is AWESOME. He’ll do his best to take care of anything you could need. The Mariner is an older motel, but the rooms are spacious and very clean, with a flat screen TV, microwave, and fridge. We had a beautiful view of the Fox River from our room. We spent this past week end here, and I can’t say enough good things about the motel. We’ll be back next time we visit Green Bay!

The view is amazing, which makes it a shame that the place isn’t better cared for. The courtyard was run down, and all the chairs were ripped. Our room had lots of cobwebs and dust, and the garbage still had Xmas wrap in it even though we stayed in June. They say it’s a simple but clean room, but we had to clean it ourselves before putting our things down. At $80, even a reasonable rate, that’s too much. The TV only worked on one annoying channel, and I’d expect it to function.

The rooms were clean, though dated, and the staff were polite and friendly. The location was okay, and with the right room you might see the back of the scoreboard at Lambeau Field. The breakfast was just bananas and coffee, which felt pretty meager. Weekend rates during Packers home games are high, as they are around Green Bay, but for what I paid I expected better value. The place also gave me a bit of a Bates Motel impression.

Watching the sunset from the picnic area by the Fox River was a real bonus. The supper club just a few steps away was another, with food worth what it costs. This place is dated and a bit kitschy, but that adds to its charm. The managers, whether they own it or not, were personable, courteous, and helpful. In the morning there was fresh fruit and good coffee, and the Wi-Fi connected without trouble. The older AC worked well enough. We enjoyed our stay so much that we're already looking forward to coming back next year. It feels like a hidden gem, and part of me hesitates to tell everyone in case it gets too popular.
