Hampton Inn & Suites Greensboro Downtown

With just 36 hours to go, a weather-related university closure meant our PhD interview event could no longer take place on campus. Nicole Spears, the Sales Coordinator at Hampton Inn Downtown GSO, quickly helped us put together a new plan, including meeting space for as many as 40 people. We moved our catered group meals and opening reception to the Banquet Room and Board Room there. Both spaces were immaculate and well maintained, with enough technology for presentations. The hotel staff were professional, welcoming, and supportive, and Nicole kept communication excellent throughout. Hampton Inn Downtown GSO has helped arrange nearby lodging for our applicants visiting UNCG for interview day for the past four years. Its location was also a short walk down Elm St. from Transform Greensboro, where we moved the interviews. Several participants enjoyed getting a glimpse of downtown Greensboro during a busy day. I highly recommend Hampton Inn Downtown, especially Nicole Spears, for an event.

I used to make this my regular GSO hotel despite the wildly priced sundries and the in-room ear buds needed because of the nearby train tracks. But after dealing with the general manager, I won't return. I’ll also tell the 80k colleagues who use my booking tool to avoid this property. I wouldn’t feel safe with someone in charge who lacks basic communication and comprehension skills.

Deona helped us with everything and was an absolute saint. My partner and I only stayed a short time, but it was wonderful. The room and location were both great, and I’m hard pressed to think of anything that could have made it better. We’re already coming up with reasons to return.

The train track beside the hotel is active, and the horns sound as trains pass. They offered ear plugs, and each train went by quickly, with the noise lasting only a few seconds, but it would’ve been good to know from the website. Even so, I’d stay here again. It’s a stylish Hampton Inn, with a spacious lobby and a clean, modern feel. My room and bathroom were a decent size, and the bed was comfortable. Thanks to the maid who cleaned my room. Parking was reasonably priced, and there’s free street parking at night.
