Sheraton Greensboro at Four Seasons

We came for a food conference at the nearby coliseum. The hotel is huge, with plenty of conference rooms, restaurants, and a cocktail bar. We had drinks at the bar and breakfast, and every staff member was friendly and gave great service. Our room was clean and comfortable, with a handy little fridge. There was a coffee maker, but I didn't care for its coffee; the restaurant's was much better. We'd stay here again.

I've been loyal to Marriott for over 20 years and, as a Platinum Elite Bonvoy member, have dealt with guest service and front desk staff around the country. McKenzie at the Sheraton Four Seasons Greensboro stands out. I was having trouble arranging a reservation for my mother, who was traveling alone. McKenzie was patient, knowledgeable, and calm. She took ownership of the booking, checked every detail, anticipated concerns, and followed through all the way. When my mother arrived, McKenzie was there and attentive. She made sure she was safe, comfortable, settled in, and able to rest without stress. That peace of mind means a lot to me as her son, and it reminded me why I stay with Marriott. McKenzie brings a thoughtful, human approach to hospitality and is a real asset to the hotel and Marriott. Experiences like this are why loyalty matters.

The place feels like it's in decline, and management seems unable to keep up. The pool was closed for renovation, the big revolving door broke during our stay, and elevator buttons often wouldn't light up. Our first room was in Tower 1, where much of the building is closed for renovation and several entrances are shut. Both the hallway and room smelled of cigarette smoke and weed. They quickly moved us to Tower 2, but two of its four elevators were broken. At busy times, guests waited 10 or 15 minutes in the lobby. Going down was also frustrating: the elevator stopped at every floor, already packed, so nobody else could get on. The second room was fine, though the weed smell crept back in before we left. I don't know if that's the hotel's fault, or just other guests, or my bad luck. Overall, it was okay but disappointing.

It's been about 20 years since our last visit, and the upgrades to the main hotel area, rooms, stores, and restaurants are fantastic. The place was very festive for the holidays. Our spacious room was on the 15th floor, with a comfy bed and a bathroom setup I loved: one sink inside the bathroom and another just outside the door. Very convenient. We'll definitely stay here when we visit again.
