Comfort Inn Grove City - Columbus South

The room itself was clean and nice, though the bathtub showed the building's age. Getting there was awkward because of traffic, and the parking lot was poorly lit, especially near the front. At check-in, the clerk wore everyday clothes and no shoes, acted bothered when I wanted to read what I was signing, gave me no checkout or breakfast times, and barely took the time to direct me to my room. They charged the room and added a $100 hold, which seemed odd to me since I've only had holds for the room, tax, and a little extra. The morning food felt more like a snack to get guests out the door than breakfast, with very little available. I suspect they'd rather guests pay for breakfast at the Cracker Barrel next door. My request for a 1 pm checkout was denied without an explanation. I've worked at two hotels, and I think the staff could use professional retraining and maybe uniforms to show some pride in the business.

They booked the wrong dates on my reservation, charged me, then refused a refund even though the date mistake was theirs. I've never dealt with a place like this. It felt like a rip-off, and they wouldn't take responsibility for their own actions. Don't spend your time or money here. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone, whatever their situation. A homeless shelter would be better, since at least they don't strong-arm and rob you. If zero stars were an option, that's what I'd give.

The room was fine, and being pet friendly was the only real plus. Breakfast was included, but there was basically nothing there. No ice, no coffee, and hardly anything in the vending machines. The employees wandered around on their phones instead of helping with check-in or checkout. The manager filled out my review for me, and I had to correct it. I wouldn't stay again, and they charged me twice.

There were several loud kids in the room across from mine. My room smelled strongly of cigarettes and mold, I saw roaches, and the bathroom had no hot water.
