Quality Inn & Suites New Castle

The dog next door whined from 3:30 until I left at 9:30, after its owner apparently went to work around 3:00. The front desk had to call them. Guests shouldn’t be put beside a room with a dog left alone when it clearly has separation anxiety. Before that, we’d had to drag two suitcases up the stairs because there’s no elevator. They called later to apologize and said they’d give us partial credit for the inconvenience, but that never came through. So the claim that this was resolved is completely wrong. This was an awful stay, bad enough that I’ve never felt the need to write a negative review before. I’d tell people to avoid this place.

The front desk staff were friendly, and the price is decent for the area. There’s a grocery store within walking distance, and the Irish pub was pretty good. There isn’t a lot else to do nearby, though. The rooms are mediocre and could use renovation: old carpet, dim lights, a toilet that kept running until I jiggled the handle, and a tub that drained very slowly.

We were staying here for our mother’s funeral, and the staff made a hard time a little easier. They were understanding, kind, and accommodating, and went out of their way to make sure we were comfortable and had what we needed. We’re incredibly grateful to them.

Every stay here has been amazing. The housekeepers and staff are always friendly and nice, and the place is always clean. You can tell the management is doing a great job. Other large hotels I’ve stayed at have missed the mark, while this one could be a model for them. Everyone here deserves a raise.
