Motel 6 Pismo Beach, CA

For what I paid, I expected a much better mattress. The stay was okay, but the bed was uncomfortable and the shower was very small.

I booked two nights, but after I complained about the cleanliness, I left just a few hours after checking in and still wasn't fully refunded. This place is a “petri-dish.” Look behind the mattress and in the shower. How is it even open to the public? Nasty. Go to the HAMPON instead. It's only $43 more for 200 more square feet of clean space, a sparkling big shower and amazing breakfast. Your choice. It's 2026, you deserve better!

The rooms are clean and reasonably priced, and the service has improved a lot since our recent stay. There's still no air conditioning, though. On a sold-out night, the older Latina woman at the office couldn't find my reservation. She refused to enter my name and was chatting with friends on the phone, so Expedia couldn't reach her after I'd spent half an hour talking with them. Then she gave me keys to a room that already had people in it. She should be fired.

Five minutes before I arrived, after a six-hour drive, the motel called to cancel my reservation. The front desk woman was extremely rude and didn't care that she left me scrambling to find another place on a Friday. They said they wouldn't charge me, but the next morning there was a charge for a room I was never allowed to use. Horrible service.
