Hyatt Place Marlborough/Apex Center

Update: If you book through priceline and pay there, be very clear with the front desk before handing over your card. Make them repeat what they understand, even if it feels like you're treating them like an idiot. I was charged twice for my stay. The online customer service team and front desk kept saying it was only a hold, but it wasn't. It took five different people at hyatt before someone checked priceline, saw my payment and the POS payment, and got it fixed. Thanks so much, Lorena! I stayed here to avoid driving in a blizzard. The room was clean and relatively new, and the front desk service was really good. There were interesting out-of-town guests and business breakfast meetings to eavesdrop on, plus apple turnovers that taste like somebody's grandma loves you. I didn't try the fitness center, but it looked pretty good. I couldn't watch the final episode of Hazbin Hotel because the TV wouldn't sync with my phone. I did have a facial and a little spa day in the nice bathroom. The bed was a bit too soft, so I overslept and woke up stiff. The blankets are ultra light, and I need more weight on top of me.

The front desk service was great, and breakfast was good. The room was average, nothing special. But that shower was something else. The Delta shower head had maybe eight holes, and the water just fell out instead of spraying. It was more like a refrigerator water dispenser, slowly pouring until you eventually got wet enough to shower. This should've been a four star review, but I can't get past the shower.

We were in town for a wedding over the weekend, and the staff couldn't have been more helpful. Their customer service was outstanding. Since lots of our friends were visiting from out of town too, we could gather and spend time together in the lobby seating area. Our room with two queen beds was spacious, and there was nothing left to want from the breakfast menu. I rarely review hotels we stay at while traveling, but I'd highly recommend this one.

The location is great, with plenty of places to eat and hiking trails nearby. Staff were nice, rooms were clean and a good size for a Hyatt Place, and they honored all my Hayatt Explorers benefits, including late checkout. I would still recommend the hotel, though I took off one star for a handful of issues. The gym was the low point. Its treadmills and weights were in immaculate condition, but other equipment had damaged parts and I couldn't use it. Breakfast was limited, the fruit didn't look fresh, and the dining area sometimes went uncleaned. There were no clean glasses for drinks until someone pointed it out ten minutes later. I also noticed scratches around the property, a bleach stain on my couch, and blown bulbs in my room. The bulbs were fixed later.
