Fairfield By Marriott® Inn & Suites Grovetown

I canceled my reservation at the Fairfield by Marriott in Grovetown and booked the Holiday Inn across the street instead. The service there was much better, and the rooms and amenities were better too, without any problems. I won't return to this Fairfield. I had stayed at this exact location three weeks earlier, and they accepted my authorization form then. This time they refused it. We've used the same form for years at different locations and in different states without trouble. No other hotel has required a printed copy; an emailed form has always been standard and valid. They rejected it because it was a photo, even though it contained the same information. There was no flexibility or attempt to help, and no reasonable explanation for the sudden policy change. It was a very frustrating customer service experience.

I was charged for another room just to solve this, and neither a manager nor anyone else gave me better service. I'd booked a regular king, but they assigned me a handicap room and said it was the last king room. Since I'd booked through a third party website, they claimed they couldn't change it. I'd never had this happen before; at another hotel, the same issue was fixed quickly and easily. I stayed here before and thought it was a nice new hotel, but I wish I hadn't come back. Hopefully the policy changes or I can get a refund. Otherwise, I'm not returning. Zero stars, or better yet, negative 1.

There were pubic hairs on the toilet and trash in the bathroom bin when I arrived. At 4am, after a 12-hour drive and while exhausted, I woke up to a strong skunk weed smell coming into the room. I would never stay here again. Doesn't matter if the name is Marriott or Hilton, they're all the same. If I wanted this nastiness and criminal activity, I'd stay at a Motel 6.

Marvelous, darling! The area made such a good impression when I stayed here a few months ago that, after I got a job offer with Columbia County Libraries, I looked for an apartment nearby. I found a great place just up the street. The hotel is spotless, in a safe, pleasant area, with plenty of shops and restaurants close by. You can't go wrong choosing it.
