SureStay by Best Western Gulfport

This older SureStay is a no-frills place that could use a refresh. It was safe and clean enough for a low-cost night's rest before continuing down the road. What I'll remember most is how kindly the staff handled my lost wedding ring. I was about 200 miles away after checking out early when I realized I'd left it on the edge of the tub. I panicked and called the front desk. Danny went straight to the room, found it, and the team kept it safe and arranged to ship it back to me in California. That meant a lot. Integrity and kindness feel rarer these days, and Danny was one of the good guys. Thanks, Danny. My wife would've killed me, but I get to live, LOL.

Two days after I paid for this place with my credit card, it got a fraud alert. Someone used the card number to buy a cruise.

I've killed five roaches in this room so far. I'm afraid to leave my suitcase open in case any get into my bag. This place is more like a roach motel.

The location was alright, but the stay was not. The lobby and our room smelled like mold mixed with paint, and there was water damage around the tub with dust behind the door. When I booked for my partner and me, the person I arranged the stay with said there was a pool and that it was clean, but that wasn't true. We went out to explore for a few hours. When we came back, our door was open, even though the “do not disturb” sign was on it. We'd left the door fully closed with the sign in place. Thankfully nothing was missing, but there were no cameras near the room to show what happened. Before we left, I saw room service heading toward our room and asked twice for them not to go in. When I raised the open door issue with the receptionist, she brushed off my complaint and went to ask the staff. The staff were ignorant and I couldn't trust the place. I highly do not recommend it.
