Residence Inn New Heaven Hamden

The place seemed nice, and we enjoyed the pool, but the room smelled noticeably like a sewer. The bugs were the bigger problem. After I got out of the shower, I found a large roach in the bathroom. Around 2:00 a.m. there were two more in there, and a dead one inside the linen bag in the closet. We were locals displaced by frozen pipes and picked this property on a family recommendation, hoping to stay near work and school. We usually stay at local hotels up I-95. When I called the front desk at 2:00 a.m. about the roaches, all I got was, “Oh wow.” They offered another room, but when I asked if it had bugs too, the answer was, “Ma’am, I don’t know what’s in the rooms.” Having to move our bags and children in the middle of the night without any confidence the same thing wouldn’t happen again was completely 🤨. The property has potential, but the roaches, sewer smell, and response to the complaint made the stay uncomfortable and disappointing. We skipped the free breakfast.

At about 4am, exhausted after driving from Ohio to CT, I arrived to find that Hilton in orange ct had cancelled my room. I was so upset, but Residence inn looked after me. The gentleman at the front desk carried all my bags from the car to my room, then unloaded them while I parked. Everyone on staff was kind. The room was clean and comfortable, quiet too, and the bed was amazing. I’ll definitely be back. This is going to be my new home away from home when I’m in CT.

The room was pleasant, though there was a wet paint smell that made me wonder if there was a leak or dampness behind the wall. The HVAC sometimes got loud, like a lawnmower. There were black specks and buildup around the caulk in a lot of the showers. One guest said he bought spray to clean his own room, and another brought a small vacuum to get rid of dust.

After about six stays here with family and friends, I can say every visit has been amazing. My family and I love it and are already planning to return. The rooms are spotless and feel luxurious, and the service is exceptional. Furqan at the front desk is energetic, quick, and seems to know everything about the hotel. I even saw him smiling and helping everyone in the kitchen, a real jack of all trades. One night my TV wasn’t working, and he came up and fixed it right away. As a Titanium member, I really felt valued. I’ve stayed at plenty of hotels, but this one stands out. This is my first review for any hotel or place I’ve visited, and it felt deserved.
