Best Western Northwest Indiana Inn

The breakfast is the part that bothered me most. I was there for two weeks, and one Sunday the cook mixed the potatoes with meat, so I couldn't eat them. They had hamburger patties on the side, and I don't eat red meat or pork, so eggs were the only breakfast protein left for me. The potatoes sometimes seemed like leftovers, too. There was little unsweetened almond milk, and I wish the hotel would offer chicken, whiting, or turkey for guests who avoid red meat and pork. The usual spread includes pancakes from a machine, waffles, toast, coffee, cereal, eggs, beef patties, pork bacon, biscuits and gravy, donuts, and juice. There's breakfast only, no lunch or dinner. The hotel is right off I-94 toward Detroit, and the rooms and hygiene items are okay, though there are no toothpaste bottles. Some rooms smelled of cigarette smoke even after opening the window. I saw a leaking faucet pipe in one room and a rattling AC/heater in another. Coffee makers are in the rooms, but I didn't want to use them when smoke might have gotten into the water reservoir or cups. Pop and snack machines cost about twice as much as Dollar General. There seems to be a washer and dryer on each floor, about $2.50 each, so $5 total, and you need your own detergent and fabric softener. Staff have been accommodating with room requests, and the desk clerks were fine with me ordering Amazon items after I asked. Some services could be improved. My stay has been okay so far, and since I didn't pay, some quirks probably bother me less than they would a paying guest. There's a strip club about four buildings away on the same side. Its lot looked pretty empty, even on weekends. I haven't gone in, but someone reading this might want to review it.

There isn't anything within walking distance nearby, so keep that in mind if you're not driving. The staff were very sweet, and breakfast was hot, good, and had something different each day. The TV satellite kept cutting in and out for a few nights, but staff addressed it and it seemed to stop. Pretty good overall.

The staff were very nice, but that didn't make for a good stay when they couldn't fix the problems. My key card stopped working every other day, so I had to keep going back to have it fixed. The room smelled musty, and the AC made a horrible grinding noise at random through the night. The TVs are locked so you can't change inputs, leaving about 30 boring channels. I couldn't connect to Wi-Fi either, though that wasn't much of a loss with the TV being so bad. Breakfast was okay, but during my seven days there most mornings had no meat; the other days it was pork sausage, which I don't eat. They need better meat choices.

We stayed from Monday through the following Monday and had the same room each day. It was a great place to spend time, and they served a good breakfast in the morning.
