Super 8 by Wyndham Hampshire IL

I checked out the hotel myself because friends are coming to town and I’d seen mixed reviews. It’s just off the highway, beside a couple of truck stops. I didn’t stay the night, but a woman showed me four rooms, and I was impressed by how clean and nice they looked. Even the room that hadn’t been cleaned yet looked nice. She said they’d recently been renovated. The bathrooms were really clean, and the carpets in both the rooms and hallways looked clean too.

The front desk women were the reason for the two stars. They always said hello or smiled. The beds were good too, and I got great rest for many nights. The rooms themselves were another story: cable was very limited, and some rooms had motion lights that could shine right in your face if you got up to use the bathroom in the middle of the night. I had a problem reserving through priceline, so I handed the young man at the front desk my key card and paid in cash. He asked if I was making the reservation at the desk, then, after about nine minutes, asked for the key card I’d already given him. Seventeen minutes after he finally checked me in, he came to the door and tried to enter without knocking. I’d put the door stopper in, so I opened it. He said, “I'm sorry sir I was checking the checkout list!” About three days later, after I’d ordered breakfast, I was walking through the lobby at 8am when he asked, “are you checking out today?” I don’t know what his problem is, but it’s something. And if you have to stay there a long time like I did, good luck finding food. You’ll have to get everything delivered.

There’s parking for a semi truck with a 53ft trailer, and the location was great for getting some rest. The room was really clean, and so was the restroom. They don’t sell food or drinks at the hotel, and the vending machine had no snacks or drinks. Breakfast is available, but it’s just cereal and milk. There’s a Wendy's and a gas station next door, though, so you can walk over for food and drinks. Great service, and I’ll come back to this location! 👍

The breakfast wasn’t available. I could hear my neighbor talking on the phone through the walls very easily all night. The room and sheets smelled like spice or smoke? On the first day we arrived, I found a black hair on the bedding. The bathroom fan/light was broken and hanging there.
