Downtown Sweetwater's historic charm, with its local restaurants and antique stores, made a lovely setting for our stay at the Arbor Suite. The Gilded Age decor mixed tastefully with modern conveniences, giving the place a unique feel. Our host was helpful whenever we had questions. I'd highly recommend it to anyone wanting a historic treat and a step back in time.

We actually liked hearing the train go by, and the hotel provides earplugs and a sound machine if you’d rather block it out. Just keep in mind that getting inside means using stairs. If that works for you, it’s a lovely, peaceful place. Easily the cleanest and prettiest hotel we’ve stayed in, and we’d recommend it.

The owners can’t control the train schedule, and I didn’t mind the occasional train. It even suits the character of Sweetwater, a lovely little town. The room was clean, nicely put together, and fairly priced. You can tell the owner added her own touch. We’ll stay here again.

The Lazy Beagle Restaurant, just a few doors away, was incredible. Our room was huge and beautifully decorated, and the host was kind and quick to respond. Trains pass nearby, which I happen to enjoy, and there are earplugs on the nightstand if you don’t. They seemed to have thought of everything. I’m already sad to leave tomorrow, and can’t wait to come back. Highly recommend!

Sweetwater was about halfway on our drive home from Florida to Michigan, so we tried this place instead of another chain hotel off the highway. The extra few miles were absolutely worth it. It was quaint, with lovely decor, a comfortable bed, a hot shower, and plenty of coffee. Train whistles came by every few hours and added to the area’s history and nostalgia. We’d happily return if we’re nearby again. It outdid any resort in Florida for us. Thanks for a memorable stay. We wish we’d had time to try the sweet shop downstairs. All the best, Bob & Lisa
