The room was comfortable and clean, and I really like that the beds have zippered protective covers. I have a service dog, but the owner wouldn’t give me a first-floor room because “pet” rooms are only on the third floor. My dog doesn’t shed and is fully vaccinated, so I felt an exception could have been made.

The room had a musty smell, and the repairs looked like the bare minimum. There must have been a water stain on the ceiling, because they painted a stripe down the middle instead of repainting the whole ceiling. Everything felt old. My mattress needed replacing, although my husband’s seemed fine, and the lock was janky. The first-floor door across from the elevator was thin enough that I could hear everything. Someone in the lobby, pretty sure it was a front desk person, talked loudly from 10:30 to 11:15 p.m.; it sounded like they were sitting on my bed. Breakfast was mediocre. This hotel feels like it’s trying to keep getting customers while doing as little as possible to attract them. It’s gone downhill a lot since my stay a year ago. Don’t trust the anonymous five-star reviews. We’ll stay somewhere else next time we drive through.

We were on the third floor for one night, two people in a king room, no pets. It was clean, had no strange smells, and nothing unpleasant happened. Staff were courteous and very helpful. The bed even felt bigger than a king. The soaps smelled nice, and they also left a complimentary makeup remover wipe and shower cap. I believe breakfast starts at 6:30 a.m., but check with the front desk. The breakfast area is huge, with seating for maybe 80 people, and the buffet was impressive: waffles to make, scrambled eggs, sausage, soft mini biscuits and gravy, plus regular, decaf, and bold coffee, hot water, regular and green tea, Swiss Miss, cranberry, orange, and apple juice, yogurt, 2% milk, two kinds of mini liquid creamer, sweetener and sugar packets, apples, three cereals, white and wheat bread, bagels, danishes, muffins, jelly, peanut butter, Nutella, regular and sugar-free syrup, and butter packets. Most places don’t offer such a large breakfast spread. We didn’t have time to use the pool or hot tub, but that’ll be for next time. If we’re nearby, I’ll absolutely stay here again.

The breakfast was mostly inedible, and the hotel is very dated. The site showed the most expensive room at $89, but we were charged $110, then another $27 at check-in because we had our kids with us. We stay at lots of hotels for children’s sports, work, and leisure, but after this disappointing visit, we’ll be hard pressed to stay at a Choice hotel again.

The road noise was the downside. You can hear Jake brakes day and night. I got a spacious king suite. It was a little dated, but clean. Breakfast is the same each day: sausage gravy and biscuits, eggs, sausage links, fruit, cereal, and waffles.
