Hilton Garden Inn Hanover Arundel Mills, MD

The Hilton Garden Inn rooms, on floors 1-6, are nice and recently renovated, and there’s a decent pool and gym. Homewood Suites is on floors 7-11, so it feels like two hotels stacked together. What put me off was the $12.50 nightly parking charge they’ve introduced in the last couple of years. It feels like a blatant money grab. If I’d known before booking, I wouldn’t have chosen this hotel, and I’ll look for another Hilton brand next time.

I booked through Halpern Travel, so what I saw there may have shaped my expectations about the amenities. The room itself was clean and well appointed, and I was generally pleased. The fitness center was usable but small. The added costs were disappointing. Parking was $10 a night, and breakfast was $15 for a basic lobby style buffet like the spread often included at other select service hotels. I chose to eat a better breakfast elsewhere. I’d rather have had parking and breakfast included in the daily rate. Those charges brought down the experience. The hotel is close to BWI and the Arundel Mall, though, so I’d recommend it if you budget for the extras.

For a work trip, I found plenty of nearby shops and restaurants, and there’s a bar in the lobby that serves some dishes. Parking is plentiful, though you have to pay through an app. The staff were polite and very friendly. My room was clean and comfortable, with lots of desk space, a big TV, and a super comfortable bed and pillows. I’d stay again when I’m in the area.

Parking isn’t free, and the staff were rude, especially the young woman at the desk with wild hair. My husband and I stopped here from New Jersey after nearly five hours on the road on 5/23/26, but were told no rooms were available because our third party booking had been double booked. We were told to contact the booking company. The hotel should just say it doesn’t accept third party reservations. A woman of a different race arrived and was told the same thing, but she paid the hotel directly and went to a room. I was only told there was no room. The third party ended up accommodating us greatly, but the way we were treated was upsetting. I would have given zero stars if I could.
