That view from the back deck is spectacular, and I remember the food and service being great on earlier visits. This time, though, our group of 10 came on a busy Friday and waited 15 to 20 minutes just for drinks from the bar. Our waitress was friendly, but seemed overwhelmed, and didn't bring everyone water at first. The $38 ribeye special came with two sides and a salad. The steaks ordered medium rare arrived well done, as if pressed on the grill, and the mashed potatoes and glazed carrots were cold. Similar problems showed up on the other plates, and a couple of other dishes were sent back too. We returned the food without asking for anything else. The manager did her best to handle things, though we told her how disappointed we were. I don't know if they have different cooks now or what happened, but I hope they improve the kitchen and food quality. It used to be a very classy place with great food, and this was one of my worst restaurant experiences.

The dining room is cozy, with a river view, and we watched the sunset from our table. Our waitress was attentive and really sweet. The portions were generous, the salad fresh, and the filet delicious. We had a bottle of Kendall Jackson wine, though the other diners' drinks caught my eye too. We had a lovely meal and would come back for another pleasant evening with a good view.

The river-facing room felt cozy and was clean, and the staff were helpful and nice, though I barely saw them. Just a heads-up, weekday breakfast is protein shakes, Red Bull, and frozen biscuits, with no hot option. I also couldn't find a way to lock the room from outside. Still, I'd recommend the inn.

For my 75th birthday dinner last week, our party of nine found that half the menu wasn't available because the oven didn't work and the freezer had gone out. There was meant to be a live band, but they'd had a boating accident and couldn't make it. Everyone who ordered steak thought it was very good. My chicken fried chicken, though, was a seasoned patty, like a frozen chicken patty from the freezer. We won't be going back.
