Quality Inn Harrisburg - Hershey Area

The bed was comfortable and the sheets were clean, but I was glad I'd brought my own towel because the one I saw had yellow stains. The first room hadn't been cleaned, with food on the floor and messy sheets. The second had been “cleaned,” but there was poop in the toilet and a strong coffee smell. The next morning I found a wet carpet spot that seemed to be the source of it. The bathroom showed years without updates. Its caulking was cracked or missing, the shower plate was badly misaligned enough to expose plumbing in the wall, and there was plenty of rusted metal. You couldn't pay me to stay there again.

The breakfast area was well stocked and organized, and the hotel was very quiet. My room was on the first floor. Everything worked as it should, from the TV and lights to the shower, and there were plenty of towels. The room was very clean. I booked despite some poor reviews, but my experience didn't resemble the ones rated 1-3. At this price, I'd have to nitpick to find negatives, and I'd book here again without hesitation.

During my September 12-13 stay, water leaked through the bathroom ceiling and there was black mold. Housekeeping tried several times to get us out of the room before checkout. I told the front desk and mopped up the leak myself, since nobody came to look at it. When I replied to a review the hotel had sent, they kept my response from being posted. The manager then apologized for not meeting my “high standards.” I asked for a partial refund, but he stopped replying to my email. I stopped by another weekend, and the front desk called him. He said there had been ceiling damage from a leak, but no water was leaking when they checked the room the next day, so he wouldn't refund me. He offered 15% off a future stay, which at that day's rate would mean $16 off, while asking me to trust them with another booking and pay them $100 without them making things right about the first stay. The front desk told me to email him again. I did, even saying I'd accept 50% off a future booking instead of a partial refund. Fair is fair, but again I got no reply. I very much don't recommend the hotel now. I'm calling the health inspector because black mold is toxic and they probably couldn't be bothered to treat it properly.

The rooms were clean, the beds were great, and the layout was comfortable and well planned, though nothing fancy. Breakfast was free but had only a few choices: cereal, yogurt, and a waffle maker.
