Express Inn Hartselle

We were only in town for one night, and it was already late, otherwise we wouldn’t have stayed. The floor was filthy and the room smelled awful. There was no ice machine or soda machine, and $99 felt like a joke. The tub was so slippery my husband nearly fell. A real roach motel. Beware.

The staff were friendly and welcoming, and I’d gladly stay again. The room was simple, without a lot of fuss, and Highway 31 made it easy to reach nearby towns.

We paid extra for a smoking room, but ended up taking a nonsmoking one instead. There were needles under the bed. Before that, the room we’d paid for had already been rented to someone else an hour earlier, and staff argued with both parties, apparently not remembering the other booking. We asked for a refund and were initially given only 77 cents. They argued even though we had the refund receipt. We did eventually get our money back, but I definitely wouldn’t recommend this place.

I booked six rooms, and every one had such a bad bedbug problem that none of us would stay in them. The place seems run down, and there’s already a lot of negative feedback about roaches and poor room upkeep. One way to check a bed is to lift just the fitted sheet at a corner and iron the top of the mattress there for about 15 seconds. Lift the sheet afterward and you’ll see bedbugs everywhere.
