Baymont by Wyndham Hays

We were trying to plan a romantic night after my wife had spent the week traveling for work and staying in some pricier hotels. She was pleased with the room, which seemed spotless, smelled clean, and was in order. It was large and spacious, with an in-room hot tub, for $100+tax. Though the building looks dated outside, my room had seen some renovations. After calling every hotel in town to find one with an available hot tub, Baymont was the only one that said yes. Breakfast gets 7/10, staff 9/10, and cleanliness 10/10. The interstate is right beside the hotel, but passing traffic wasn't too bad. This stay reminded me the big guys aren't always the first choice when you're looking for value.

For under $100, the double room was just what we needed, and my husband slept well. We pushed the bed against the wall so our three year old wouldn't fall out, which worked, though underneath it was pretty dirty. The bathtub plug didn't work for my daughter's bath, but we didn't have the energy to change rooms. The bed's metal frame is really loud. On the plus side, the water pressure was good and the temperature was comfortable and easy to adjust. You get what you pay for.

The bed and bedding were fantastic, and for the price the room was just fine. The continental breakfast was probably the best in that area for this price range. Both managers were pleasant: the night manager helped us at check-in, and the morning manager was friendly and all smiles. I'd choose the hotel option for the extra wall. Being close to the highway, the motel option probably gets a bit more noise.

The manager didn't make me feel very welcome. The new employee who hardly spoke English was sweet, but seemed uncomfortable in his surroundings, which I can understand. If the owner or manager made me uncomfortable as a guest, I can only imagine how it would feel to work for him. 😬 The hotel itself was nice, clean, and well maintained, with comfy beds and a good breakfast that had lots of choices.
