Heritage Inn Express Hayward

The bathroom was so nasty I didn't feel comfortable showering without shower shoes. The walls were filthy, the microwave gross, and the furniture stained and dirty too. I won't be coming back.

The area felt sketchy, with lots of people walking around outside, and police came to the motel twice over an incident. Inside, the rooms were okay, though cigarette smoke seemed to get in even though they were marked smoke-free. Heavy rain caused a bathroom leak in our first room, but staff moved us to a better one, which I appreciated. Apart from that, it worked as a place to sleep.

We kept having maintenance trouble, and the service made the stay more stressful. Work on the sink in the next room sent stuff up through ours, and when I called about the water, staff said it would be back in ten minutes. It came on, then shut off again. When I called back, the front desk guy cut me off with “we're still fixing it” before I could explain. Nobody apologized for the inconvenience, and they knock hard on your door and expect you to answer immediately when they need something. This hotel sucks. You're better off staying somewhere else.

There were no blankets on the beds, and the toilet paper holder was coming out of the wall. The room fridge kept making noise overnight, and the area was noisy too. We spent over an hour in the evening trying two TV remotes that didn't work. Management wouldn't offer a discount or a free night's stay.
