Earthsong Lodge

The room was clean and nice, and I loved the decor. The internet was unstable at first, though it improved later that night. Parking right in front of the lodge isn’t allowed, which isn’t a good combination with rain.

Ty and the staff were wonderful and added a lot to our stay. Earthsong’s cabins are nice, with beautiful views and a very quiet setting. There are no TVs, and there isn’t Wi-Fi inside the cabins, though some is available on the property. It’s about a 25-minute drive to Denali Park, with plenty of chances to spot moose along the way, more than inside the park in our experience. A lovely place to disconnect.

The property has amazing views, and each morning we took a short walk across the road to enjoy the mountains and the quiet. The coffeehouse was a definite plus, with good breakfast sandwiches and hot coffee. Our two-room cabin was a bit tight for four people and their luggage, but we made it work as a family. The heat worked very well in both rooms, maybe too well, so be careful not to turn it up too high or you may wake in the night to shut it off. Our cabin didn’t have a fridge or microwave, but there are shared ones near the parking lot, which didn’t bother us. The shower had plenty of hot water and great pressure. We didn’t get to meet Jon and Karin or the sled dogs, but still felt right at home and would love to return for their hospitality.

We loved staying at Earthsong, away from the crowds near the Denali entrance. The lodge is about 15 minutes from the park, and the cabins are spacious, cozy, very clean, and comfortable, with thoughtful details throughout. Co-owner John gave us a warm welcome. He used to be a park ranger, runs sled dog expeditions, and built all the structures. Before our park trip he shared helpful information, and he also took us on a tour of his dog kennels. We loved meeting the sled dogs. The peaceful balcony was lovely for sitting outside, and the shower had great water pressure. We took evening walks down the road and picked wild berries, the blueberries were delicious. The coffeehouse next door serves great coffee and simple breakfasts in the morning. If you miss its hours, there’s coffee and tea in the communal mini kitchen/sky kiosk. It was just what we needed before heading into the park.
