The fireplace was a nice feature, and it’s a short drive into Helen. Having the car parked right by the door was handy too. Inside, though, the place felt very dated, and I couldn’t tell whether it had ever been updated. The shower pressure was low, and a new shower head might help. The carpet was old, with sticky patches on the kitchen and bathroom floors. The deck and walkways got slippery when wet, and all of us nearly slipped in the shower. There wasn’t a bath mat, so we had to go buy one.

I stayed in unit 104 in early September and won’t be back. The pool was green with algae, and the tennis court couldn’t be used. Furniture was very dated, with some broken pieces. Mold covered parts of the siding, and trash sat beside the dumpster for three days. The office was empty, so there was no one to tell. The landscaping looked like it hadn’t been maintained for months. Hardly feels like a resort.

It was quiet and relaxing, and the condos were spacious and clean. The gated area felt secure, and Helen’s center is very close. There’s a fun golf course, though much of the resort and course was under maintenance. All the outdoor water activities were closed for the season.

I’ve been coming here since I was a kid, and I still love the place. Now I bring my own kids into the woods by the golf course to hunt for lost balls, and we come back with grocery sacks full. It’s handy for town and especially for tubing. The pool tile could use restoration, and the resort is starting to feel dated. Some things could be upgraded, like the mattresses, squeaky beds, carpet, and laminate floors. Even worn, though, everything is really clean and well cared for. Our condo still has its original washer and dryer, and I love them. I wish they still made appliances like those that last forever.
