Atwell Suites Henderson at the Pass by IHG

The staff were friendly, and I had a very pleasant stay in a clean, quiet hotel. I spent three nights there without any problems. Some reviews called the neighborhood unsafe, but that wasn’t my experience. There are older houses nearby, but I don’t think that alone means the area is unsafe. From some angles on the higher floors, the night view toward Vegas and Henderson was nice. It’s a calm place away from the Strip, about a 20-minute drive to Vegas. Parking was free right beside the building, with plenty of spaces. There’s also a paid laundry room. Breakfast was more limited than at other hotels in the chain, with no waffles or pancakes. I appreciated that they used regular plates, forks, and cups rather than disposable ones, except for disposable drink cups. You can’t take food back to your room, which might not suit everyone, but I liked their effort to limit single-use items. Coming from a background where excessive disposable use always felt uncomfortable, that was a big plus, even if it means more dishwashing. I’d recommend this place if you want somewhere quiet that’s still close enough to Vegas.

We booked because the hotel looked close to the freeway and off the Strip, and we only needed a night while passing through Vegas. After leaving the freeway in the dark, we found ourselves in a neighborhood that felt terrible. We didn’t think it was safe to leave our truck, trailer, and equipment in a nearby lot, so we drove straight past the hotel and called to cancel. They assured us the area was safe but refused to refund our $200. That still felt like a savings compared with what we might have lost. I can’t comment on the hotel’s interior. Save yourself the trouble and find a hotel in a safe neighborhood.

The wine bar outside the hotel had amazing food, with a great chef and staff. I wasn’t impressed by the other restaurants in the area. I was here for another work trip, and the hotel served its purpose, though there were some plumbing issues and a food shipment hadn’t arrived. After a 12-hour shift, I couldn’t find anything to eat. The staff took wonderful care of me, and the stay was nice overall. The area isn’t the best.

The noise made it hard to rest. We could hear people talking and arguing outside our room, along with constant footsteps in the hallway and from upstairs. The service was poor too. When we raised our concerns, staff were rude and unhelpful, and a negative review we later found seemed accurate. The most serious issue was the door. It didn’t close properly, and when we returned, we could push it open without a key. We didn’t feel safe in the room. We also found a $150 charge on our card for an alleged mark on a sheet. The hotel refunded our deposit first, then added the charge without telling us or explaining it. I called four times to ask what happened, but was told each time that it couldn’t be refunded. No proper investigation or documentation was provided. Our three-day stay at this IHG-affiliated hotel was unacceptable. We’re requesting a full refund for all three nights, including the $150 charge. We hope IHG takes this seriously and resolves it promptly, and look forward to a fair response.
