Homewood Suites by Hilton Dulles Int'l Airport

I was here for training across the street, and the suite worked well for me. It was spacious and clean, the kitchen had everything I needed, and the staff were helpful and friendly. The one disappointment was the pool being closed while they waited for a part. The young man who checked me in kept focusing on his phone and texts instead of his job. That came across as rude, though I had no other issue with the staff.

There’s a little trail behind the hotel that takes you to a cafe and grocery store, which was a lovely surprise. The location is great, and the lobby has a layout that makes the place feel like home. Our room was clean and cozy, and housekeeping kept the whole property tidy. The front desk staff were especially warm, friendly, and professional. This was my second stay here, and it won’t be my last.

The room TVs were a letdown. At other Hilton hotels I’ve stayed in over the past few years, I could stream from my own services, but these TVs didn’t offer that. The building itself is very nice, with updated, comfortable rooms and shared spaces. The bathrooms were clean, and the kitchens were good for a hotel. Breakfast also wasn’t as good as at many other Hilton-brand places I’ve visited.

After the first night, the rest of my family moved to another hotel at their own expense because they were so disappointed. I stayed on for the five days I’d booked with membership points, but even free, this was not worth it. On the second night and the third day I found multiple bed bugs and roaches. Staff were kind, but could only offer toxic spray, and I had to return to the same room because I couldn’t check out using the points. I eventually left for a Hyatt for my final two nights before an international move. I had itches and rashes for two weeks while traveling, and the stay added hassle to everything else. I won’t return to Hilton or bother collecting its points. There are plenty of hotels near Dulles international airport. If you’re loyal to Hilton, Hampton inn in Chantilly was at least clean for my family after they moved there. The first room, 505, wasn’t clean when we checked in at 9 pm, and the bathroom looked shady. The shower floor was broken, with a tile section missing that was almost 5 by 7 inches, so we changed rooms to 101 the next morning. The pool water was murky, and I wouldn’t get in. This felt lower level than Hampton inn. Hilton customer service didn’t take action either. I was told I’d have to wait a couple of days for a response to my ticket.
