The Skyline Lodge

We had to leave early because a storm was coming, and we’re sorry we couldn’t stay longer. Jenn was an absolute delight and made sure we were looked after. The coffee and lattes were amazing, and reception had great snack and drink options. We appreciated the little touches in the room and the snacks for a snow day. Dinner at The Oak was a 10/10. The food was fantastic, and the friendly staff made us feel welcome. I love the highland area, and this was my first stay at Skyline. We’ll definitely return.

We were celebrating our 15th anniversary, and the hotel left a dozen red roses, a bottle of very good champagne, and a quirky card with a music and light show and a handwritten note. The front desk staff were helpful and friendly. Oak steakhouse was great, and we liked the outdoor fire pit and game area. The hotel has over 40 rooms, though in winter they use only the main building, which I think has around 29. The lobby has essentials, good beer, and surprisingly fantastic coffee and espresso from a Franke machine. It’s about a seven-minute drive to Main Street, far enough to feel off the beaten path without being a hassle. Rooms are cozy, with a fresh, clean feel and decor that suits the area. The beds are memory foam, and the bathrooms have great showers and heated floors. Highly recommend this lodge.

We had a wonderful time at Oak Steakhouse, especially at its pop-up Christmas bar. The festive decorations, holiday atmosphere, and creative drinks made it a memorable part of the trip. Dinner was excellent, with perfectly cooked steaks and attentive service. Sky Lodge Inn was peaceful and cozy, in a great location, and the rooms were clean, comfortable, and thoughtfully updated while keeping their classic mountain lodge feel. The staff were friendly and welcoming, so the stay felt easy and relaxing. I highly recommend both places in Highlands, especially during the holiday season. We can’t wait to return.

I’ve stayed here a couple of times and would come back again. The rooms are comfortable and good value for the price. It’s about a scenic 15-minute drive to Highlands, NC, with its restaurants, boutique shops, and mountain trails, so the location works well for exploring. The Lodge’s 1950s architecture has a nostalgic vintage charm, balanced by cozy, tasteful modern interiors. The Oak Restaurant does a delightful dinner and leisurely Sunday brunch, though breakfast isn’t currently offered. It’s a lovely retreat for taking in the Appalachian Mountains and relaxing among the rolling peaks and lush forests.
