Howzit Hostels Hawaii

I’m planning to come back to Howzit Hostel Hilo. It’s easily one of the top three hostels I’ve stayed at as a solo traveller, and I’d give it 10/10. The place is very clean, the dorm bunks have privacy screens, and there are large storage lockers beneath the beds. They put out free coffee and pancakes in the morning, and the staff are really friendly. Shoutout to Nina, Bailey, and Daisie! It’s right downtown in Hilo, with a very social atmosphere. They also run tours and trips on many days of the week.

I booked a private room for one night and was really pleased. Room #6 made me say, "damn this is NICE," and I still got to meet people in the common rooms, including a woman from Italy, even though I wasn’t in a shared room. The place felt welcoming, clean, fun, and reasonably priced. It was quiet during quiet hours, too. Emmari (I hope I am not butchering the spelling of her name) checked me in and was so cool. She made me feel welcome and looked after. I’ll definitely go back. Thanks for a great time y'all 🤙

Howzit is the cleanest hostel I’ve stayed in, and the employees seem well trained. The staff all left an impression on me. Nathan checked me in, Vixen was friendly on the late shift, and Jaclyn has a great smile. Gustavo always brings good energy, while Imani has a great lounge playlist. Ava shared useful travel tips and fun stories, and Eric showed us how to look out for turtles. James was a friendly, enthusiastic, knowledgeable tour guide. Arantza and Cristina make perfect pancakes, and Julia is a natural photographer.

I’d happily stay here again. The bunk beds were sturdy and didn’t make much noise, and the bathrooms were always clean. Sofia was consistently helpful whenever I needed a towel. The breakfast pancakes are a nice way to start the day.
