Super 8 by Wyndham Hobbs

I was completely worn out by the time I reached Hobbs. I'd been up all day after barely sleeping the night before, and over the last two days I had driven from Albuquerque to Carlsbad, then Roswell, back to Carlsbad, on to Midland and Odessa, and finally Hobbs. I stopped here because I needed rest. They said it was $90 a night, which isn't really cheap. I left to get food and came back to find my key didn't work. Worse, they'd given a room key to a man who shouldn't have had one, and he was in my room while I was locked out. I pushed the matter because all I wanted was sleep. The motel clerk's father was woken up and came over angry, carrying a broom handle. He opened my door, started swinging the handle, trashed the room, got the man out, then told me to leave too and raised the handle toward me. I said I'd paid for the room and would call the police if he raised a weapon at me. He went back to the lobby. I got in my car because I didn't want the room anymore, and waited for the police. I guess they told him to refund me or I'd press charges, and I did get the refund. But after driving from Hobbs to Carlsbad without sleep for 24 hours, I still had to leave. No matter how badly you need a room, don't rent here.

Watch your card charges here. They didn't explain the charges, made several of them, and lied about why. I still haven't received a refund. They don't serve breakfast, and the amenities aren't what the website claims. We only stayed because the location was convenient and we'd already paid for a room. We're not coming back.

I never stayed at the hotel, this review is just for the Steakhouse. It's sadly closed now. The atmosphere was amazing and cozy, and it used to book up for Valentine's Day two years ahead. The steaks were incredible, and the Beef Tips and Fettuccine were to die for. One of the chefs was kind enough to give me the secret recipe for the steak seasoning. I was planning a trip to Hobbs and only just saw it had closed. I pray they reopen!

Room 125 smelled strongly of stale smoke even though it was meant to be non-smoking. There was a fly strip full of dead flies above the TV, stained walls, and a clogged toilet and sink. The beds and pillows were uncomfortable, so I barely slept. Don't let the name fool you, this hotel isn't family friendly. They advertise free breakfast and mentioned it at check-in, but at 7:30 a.m. when we checked out, we were told there'd be no breakfast. Maybe come back at 8:30, or maybe they wouldn't serve it because it was Sunday. I spent $75 for this gross, disappointing stay. The cancellation may have spared me, since food as bad as the rooms and service could have made me sick. Hobbs deserves better than this place.
