Hyatt Place Salt Lake City/Cottonwood

The location and amenities were great, and the hotel was clean and well kept with excellent staff. But the bathroom setup is a real problem: it has a sliding barn-style door made of frosted glass, so there’s very little privacy, and if someone gets up at night, the light fills the whole room. The shower pressure was ridiculously low too. Even with the stream set to its narrowest, it was hard to rinse off the soap. Such a shame.

The hotel was really convenient for reaching the Cottonwoods ski slopes, and we were able to ski every day despite there not being much snow. We used Hyatt points for the trip and thought the redemption was very reasonable. Parking was always available, and with a ski bag we chose to leave our skis in the car. Breakfast ran from 6 to 9 a.m., which fit our routine well: eat, ski all morning, then get lunch somewhere in the valley. We often finished the day in the hot tub. Our room was clean, and staff were approachable when we needed extra towels. When weather made us leave early, the hotel refunded two days’ worth of points. Everyone was very friendly, and we’d definitely come back for another ski trip.

We’ve stayed at the Hyatt Place Cottonwood Heights several times, and it’s always been a great experience. Most recently, we couldn’t rent a car at the last minute because of an emergency, so we relied on the hotel shuttle and buses to get around. The front desk was wonderful, especially Sylvia. She treated us like family and showed us such kindness and care that we’ll never forget it. People like her are why we love Utah and this Hyatt. We’d love to return to ski Utah whenever we can.

We’ve stayed a couple of times and liked this clean, modern-looking hotel for the money. The staff are friendly, parking is good, and the complimentary breakfast is better than average, though the powdered scrambled eggs leave something to be desired. My main complaint is that on all three stays, the beds felt a little saggy or worn.
