Alaska Halcyon Heights Inn

We arrived early just expecting to pop in and check in, but they let us come in ahead of time. Since we were heading out to fish early, Juxia packed a sack breakfast for us. It was in the guest fridge with a note wishing us good luck. She goes the extra mile to make guests feel welcome and comfortable, and her strawberry rhubarb pie is amazing. Stephen and Juxia both know the area so well. 10/10 recommend.

Because of flight delays, I wasn't due in until around 10:30 or 11 at night. I texted Juxia, and she kept in touch, even suggesting I stop at the local Safeway for snacks for the next day. Since I had early plans, she made me a sandwich and fruit to take along. Before I booked, she had already been so helpful with tips on what to see and do. She invited me to dinner the day before I left, then sent me off with fruit and breakfast cake for the early drive back to Anchorage. Stephen and Juxia were friendly and helpful the whole time. If I'm back in Homer, I'll stay here again.

They prepared tasty snacks for us to bring on the boat since our tours left too early for breakfast in the dining room. The owner, who cooks different kinds of food, also made the fresh halibut we had caught, and it was delicious. My family spent two nights at Halcyon Height B&B in June 2016, in the spacious Captain's Room, which had everything we needed and its own entrance. The house felt cozy and was decorated with care. The couple who own it were welcoming, explained what we needed to know about the B&B and Homer, and helped book our fishing and sea kayaking trips. Those turned out to be some of our best Alaska experiences. The view over Homer Spit is beautiful. On a sunny day, you can see snowy mountains, glaciers, boats, and planes. We heard moose and bears might visit the yard, but we didn't see any. We'd definitely return.

Our host Juxia, pronounced like the color fuschia but with a J, was incredibly sweet and knew the area well. She gave us some great recommendations and helped me prepare and cook the fresh salmon we caught that morning. We got strawberry rhubarb pie and ice cream for dessert, then she sent us off with fresh homemade breakfast for the long drive back to Anchorage. We stayed on the last day of our trip, and I'm glad we did. The room was clean and cozy, and the bed was very comfortable. Can't say enough good things. Thanks for having us!
