Spyglass Inn

Pat helped us figure out a Plan B when wind cancelled our sea kayaking day, and she sent us off with a bag breakfast for our early bus. Her hospitality was wonderful. The B&B is handy to downtown restaurants and museums, and all guests can use the deck, which has a pretty bay view. We stayed two days and enjoyed the delicious breakfasts: homemade granola, goat cheese and yogurt as well as cow's milk versions, eggs with sausage or bacon and fried potatoes. There was homemade bread with amazing jams and jellies, plus baked treats like blueberry clafouti and banana bread.

Pat and Arden are so sweet and hospitable. I have a lot of allergies and chemical sensitivities, but had no problems there. The house was clean without chemical smells, they don't own cats or dogs, and I noticed her laundry soap had no synthetic fragrance. The only smell in that cozy place was amazing fresh, hot food. My new life dream is to have Pat cook for me every day, the food smells when you walk in are tantalizing. If you like fabric crafts, take a look at the quilts on the beds, which Pat made with Alaska themes. Pat also has lots of good inside information about local events and services. Stay here if you want to feel more at home than you ever have before.

Pat is a gracious host who went out of her way to accommodate our tastes at breakfast, which was delicious. The clean rooms had a personal touch from her handmade quilts. It's a nice, quiet place to stay in Homer.

The Spyglass Inn was one of the highlights of our trip, and we intend to return as soon as we can. Pat's home is quiet and feels like a retreat, set above Homer a little off the main route. Our rooms were clean, cozy, charming, and had everything we needed. Pat was friendly, full of local ideas, and quick to connect us with special deals through her community connections. Her tips led us to change plans at the last minute, since some better options had been hard to find online. We were pleased with every suggestion, from the best fish tacos to a better ferry tour. As a foodie, I think it would be hard to find a more delightful breakfast within 100 miles. Pat's breakfasts are gourmet, colorful, multi-course sit-down meals, full of flavor, special ingredients, and love.
