The Moosetide Hotel

The location is great, and the staff were very kind, but I unfortunately don’t recommend staying here. I booked a room for about two weeks on a work trip with two colleagues. Because of the length of our stay, hotel policy required us to move all our belongings out every four to five days for cleaning, despite the hotel advertising week-long stays on the side of the building. I asked if I could skip room cleaning to avoid moving everything several times. Instead, they made me switch rooms and said this had been explained at check-in. It hadn’t. The rooms were also very outdated and worn down.

I canceled well before the deadline, but they charged me $226. The reservation said my card wouldn’t be billed, and that I could cancel without a fee up to 24 hours ahead. I have a screenshot of that. Now I have to dispute the charge with my credit card and provide the screenshot. I won’t use them or Expedia again. Be aware.

The rooms were clean and the beds comfortable. It’s a historic hotel a short distance from the Spit, though perhaps a little too far to walk. There’s a restaurant on each side of the hotel, and one has a coffee shop.

The recent makeover of this historic hotel feels cheap and rushed, and parking is poor. There’s no elevator either. Still, it does the job and is one of the cheaper options in town.
