Die Heimat Country Inn

Room 5 was large and beautiful, and the main room was nicely decorated. The eggs, sausage, oatmeal, and casserole at breakfast were excellent, though we had to ask for water and there was no juice, fruit plate, or rolls. It was the first weekend of the big Amana festival, and we were disappointed not to meet the new owners. We’ve been coming to the Prelude for Christmas for many years and stay at Die Heimat each year. The parking still had lots of snow, and the footing wasn’t good.

The homemade breakfasts were different every day and amazing, and we could get jars of drinking water whenever we wanted, a nice touch. My dear friend and I met up in the Amana Colonies, since she lives in NE and I’m in WI, and we stayed at Die Heimet for three nights. We couldn’t have been happier. It’s quaint, quiet, and clean, and everyone was friendly. Thanks, Karin, for making our stay so comfortable.

Karin gave us a map and recommendations for seeing the area, and we followed them and enjoyed it. Each room had lovely, different decor. The only issue was that my fairly tall husband bumped his head a few times on the sloped ceiling in our second-floor room, Room 8, I think. Our fault. Die Heimat feels homey, and the small town is quiet. Breakfast was very good and convenient, served on china in a pleasant dining room. Yes, I’d recommend staying here.

The homemade breakfast was a real highlight. It was a full spread, better than the usual continental breakfast, made fresh with local ingredients. It kept us going for the day and gave us a chance to chat with the hosts and other guests. In the evenings, we enjoyed good food and drinks, nights out locally, and quiet nights at the B&B with a nice fire and fellow guests. Booking was easy, and Karin and John made check-in warm and friendly. Our room was cozy, comfortable, and thoughtfully decorated with a nod to the area’s German heritage. Die Heimat Country Inn B&B is in Homestead, close to local shops, restaurants, and the scenic Amana villages, while still feeling peaceful and away from the bustle. The inn has historic warmth along with modern comforts, and we left refreshed. We’d definitely return and recommend it to anyone wanting a heartfelt getaway, whether for history, food, or just some quiet. It felt like a true home away from home.
