Hamakua Hotel

The balcony views were incredible, with green hills, ocean waves, and sunsets that felt like a movie. We spent our honeymoon at Hamakua Hotel, and it was the most peaceful, rejuvenating place I’ve ever been, like a hidden gem in paradise. There was so much to enjoy: a brand-new pool and hot tub, a private trail to an amazing ocean view, breakfast every morning, a 7-course dinner by a wonderful chef, plus a cold plunge and sauna. Every detail made us feel cared for and relaxed. We felt safe, comfortable, and welcome the whole time. I’m grateful we found this place and definitely plan to come back.

Valerie made us feel so welcome, and Joseph made an amazing dinner. Hamakua Hotel is a real hidden gem, with tasteful, spacious rooms and peaceful, elegant grounds. We had a wonderful stay.

We couldn’t use the pool because of the bad weather, so we enjoyed the soaking tub in our room instead. The tropical forest trail down to a secluded beach and a soothing spa massage were highlights. The Hamakua coast of Hawaii Islands is beautiful and relaxing. We arrived during a storm and someone met us at the vehicle with an umbrella and helped with our luggage. The service was personal and professional. Our room was spacious and clean, with a wonderful ocean view from the lanai. Chef Joseph prepared a scrumptious 7 coarse meal, moving from savory to sweet in perfect balance.

We had room #3 and I think it had the best view, right over the ocean from the cliff edge. This marvelous B&B is about 30 minutes north of Hilo. What was originally a home now offers 6 bedrooms. Breakfast each morning was prepared wonderfully by an attentive, personable chef. Our room was immaculate, the bed was comfortable, and the resident team seemed to put real effort into the quality of the amenities. The grounds, with coconut palms and gardens, were beautifully maintained and lovely to walk around.
