The room was clean and well maintained, with no odd smells, and the staff made us feel welcome throughout. We’d never stayed here before, but we’ll be back. Miss Alex, who I think is the GM, checked us in with loads of energy and positivity. There was a mix-up because maintenance was still working on our assigned room. A no-nonsense maid around 50 noticed and took us to another room, called someone, and kept us comfortable during the 1.5 minutes we waited. Then Miss Rhonda, head of housekeeping, came over, apologized, walked us to a different room herself, and checked that we were comfortable and had our questions answered. We’d requested a balcony because we like sitting outside, but there wasn’t a chair out there. I called the front desk, and Miss Alex brought one to the door in what couldn’t have been more than a minute. She said it was no trouble and told us to enjoy our stay. Customer service feels bad almost everywhere these days, with people either not knowing how to treat others or not caring. These ladies have it figured out. Thank you, Miss Alex, Miss Rhonda, and the awesome maid. You’re doing a fantastic job!

The hotel is older but has been updated, and the staff were really friendly. There was a problem with the sliding door for pool access, but maintenance fixed it within a few minutes. I’d definitely stay again.

I’ve stayed here at least 10-15 times and have been happy every visit. The rooms are consistently clean, and when I make a request, they either accommodate it or make a genuine effort. What matters most is that the staff ask how they can fix a problem instead of making excuses. After a recent experience at a Fairfield Inn in Marietta, GA, which I’ll review separately, I wanted to recognize this location for doing things right. Thanks to the manager and the whole staff for making my stays enjoyable and providing such good customer service. It’s clear the team is trained to ask the right questions and resolve issues so guests leave satisfied and eager to tell five other people how great their stay was.

The bed was the one thing this place had going for it, and that doesn’t make up for the rest. The Courtyard by Marriott Birmingham Hoover offers no breakfast at all, not even complimentary items, which is laughable for a Marriott. I’ve seen budget motels with better amenities. Finding the entrance was a hassle too. The lobby sign was a flimsy bit of cardboard barely visible above cars parked in front, and I had to loop around the lot several times. Then I had to walk through sprinklers watering the sidewalk guests use to enter. That’s not just uncomfortable, it shows how little thought went into the guest experience. The management should be ashamed and investigated for its negligence toward guests. From confusing signs and sprinklers to no basic amenities, this is an embarrassing excuse for a hotel and barely a step above a roach motel. Stay somewhere else. It isn’t worth the hassle or money.
