Laughing Heart Lodge

The quiet, peaceful setting and lovely grounds were a big part of what made my stays so good. I was here in a private room in early June 2023, then came back for a few nights in the bunkhouse in late August. Laughing Heart is exceptionally well cared for, from the clean bathrooms and handy little kitchen to the quality of the accommodations. The staff and owners put real care into things, and Hot Springs is close by, with some of the best food along the AT. Thanks to Neon, Losty, and Reboot for making the hiker and guest experience so great. I can't wait to return.

While our group was backpacking the AT, one of us got sick and called the hostel. The owners had said to call if we needed anything, and they came through when we did. They were gracious and accommodating. My room was comfortable and clean, the kitchen had plenty of supplies, and the staff were friendly and helpful. I was glad they let dogs stay too, since my dog was with me. I'd absolutely recommend Laughing Heart Hostel.

The lodge is just a short hop from town, and the Wine shop/Gourmet Grocery/Bodega is worth a stop. It might be the best place to eat in town, with something for everyone, and it's a charming little shop. You can hike straight in from the AT, and choose between the lodge and hostel. I stayed in the lodge and found it clean, quaint, and adorable, with lovely decor. It was perfectly comfortable, and I had a great time there.

The place is wonderfully quiet, with no TVs or other distractions, so you can actually unwind and enjoy the views. Our parents stayed in the Lodge and loved it. Their room was comfortable, clean, and charming, and there was plenty of space inside to relax. Breakfast was A+ too. We held our wedding on the grounds, with the chapel used for the reception, and the views and peaceful feel really impressed our out of town guests. The owners went above and beyond to look after all of us. The dinner was delicious and plentiful, and it felt like such a love-filled place to exchange vows. We've stayed several times and can't wait to come back. The dog-friendly hostel is great, with a well-equipped kitchen, plus a fire pit and picnic area where you can catch up with old friends or meet new ones. Whatever brings you to Hot Springs, make time for Laughing Heart.
