Lakeside Resort and Conference Center

We come here at least once a year, sometimes three or four times for a weekend away. It’s right on the lake, and the backside rooms have beautiful views, with balconies in some of them. The pool area is great, with a good-sized waterslide, splash pad, lazy river, larger pool, and hot tub. It’s a good size for little kids, and our older kids enjoy it too. Fun for the whole family every time.

We paid $75 for a day with our family of five, and the hot tub was filthy. It looked like it hadn’t been cleaned all weekend, with floaties and dead skin cells across the top. I wouldn’t even get in. The lazy river had a bunch of black floaties in it too. It’s a filthy place compared with a few years ago. The kids’ sprinklers weren’t on, and the other hot tub was colder than the pool.

We were a party of six with three rooms, planning to spend New Year’s at the hotel and bar. Lakeside had called everyone on the reservations the day before to offer “free” cancellation because the pool and hot tub were closed. We politely declined, but when we arrived around 4:30, only one of the three rooms was going to be available, and even that one wasn’t ready. The desk clerk had been left out to dry by upper management. We ended up booking an AirBnB a mile down the road on the lake, which Lakeside should have covered. I’ve stayed in somewhere between 100-150 hotels, and this was the worst accommodation, or attempt at one, I’ve seen. DO NOT Recommend. Unless they correct this and make it right, we’ll never be back.

I paid over $800 for two nights after being charged twice for a room in a wedding block in June. I’ve called at least eight times, but nobody can help. I was told ownership changed the week I stayed, so the old owners got one transaction and the new owners got the other. They won’t acknowledge the mistake or offer even a partial refund. Management doesn’t have control of its operation or a willingness to sort out situations like this. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel to anyone.
