The room view was a letdown. Looking out the window meant facing stairs and nearby building windows, more like a New York alley than I expected, so we kept the blinds shut. We also waited a long time for elevators, apparently because some weren’t working. A man we didn’t recognize knocked and said he needed to fix a remote, but he had no badge or uniform. My wife and I didn’t feel safe opening the door. It seemed to be an isolated incident, but it was unsettling. Even so, the Cambria Hotel in Houston was peaceful, beautiful, and very clean, with friendly, professional staff who were helpful throughout. Their professionalism made our pleasant stay enjoyable. Better elevators, clearer security procedures, and nicer room views would make it a top-tier experience.

It was our second overnight visit, a getaway for my husband and me, and we’ll be back. The hotel has a historic feel with a modern touch, and the Christmas decorations were beautiful. Service was top-notch. Right downtown, it’s surrounded by art murals, just minutes from Daikin Baseball Park to see our hometown Astros, with plenty of laid-back and fancy dining choices. The Circuit is a handy free way to get around!

The bed was very comfortable and the view was nice. That’s about it for the pros. I got trapped in the elevator, and the help line went to voicemail. After I finally reached the front desk, they sent someone to get us out. A staff member said it had happened several times that week. They gave me free breakfast vouchers, which we used, but the breakfast was still charged to our bill. Calling to correct it meant sitting on hold for ages. Housekeeping is by request, and seemed to do little beyond making the bed. The shower ran out of hot water after about three minutes. Everything else was terrible. Save your money and stay at a Holiday Inn; I guarantee you’ll have a better experience.

We had a quiet stay in a clean, spacious room with a comfortable bed and good air conditioning. The staff were excellent, and there’s a restaurant and bar on site. Great hotel all around, in a great location. We’d definitely stay again if we return to Houston.

I was meant to stay four days at the Cambria hotel, but my wallet was stolen the night I arrived in Houston. The care and empathy from the staff made a huge difference when I didn’t know what to do or how to feel. I spent the night in a beautiful, clean room with a huge, shiny bathroom. The next day I was still sad, but at least rested. Then MARCO from valet showed incredible kindness. I had no money at all, and when he heard what happened, he pulled out a roll of $1 bills and gave me half without even counting it. I couldn’t accept it, but he insisted I needed money to get something to eat. I took $10 from all he gave me, and it got me water and a snack for my trip home. MARCO’s kind heart and the hug where he said everything would be okay will stay with me for the rest of my life. I can’t wait to come back 💛🙏
