Extended Stay America Suites - Houston - Galleria Hotel

The location was very convenient for me, but I probably wouldn’t go back. Our stay was okay, though I noticed several problems around the hotel. The elevator wasn’t clean or well maintained. The room didn’t feel fresh, the bathroom wasn’t clean, and the studio carpet smelled kind of musty and wasn’t clean.

I checked in, then left just a few hours later. The kind and helpful front desk staff, including Betzy, were the one good part of my stay. As a lifetime Marriott elite member, I was sorry to find the property so far from what I expect at Marriott hotels. The exterior needs cleaning and renovation. The dirty doors and outside reminded me strongly of a 90s motel. They’ve updated some of the furniture and paint inside, but it didn’t make up for the rest. I didn’t see any live bugs, though I was there for only about an hour. The front door had obvious gaps even when shut, so I could see how bugs might get in. Its lock also had issues, and as a woman staying alone, I didn’t feel comfortable. Even considering the points I’d save by choosing this hotel, I couldn’t stomach staying. I left for another Marriott property in the area. I’m sure this place has potential, but it needs a lot of work.

I barely slept because my room was noisy, and the breakfast was so limited and poor that I didn’t eat it. There was no juice. The room smelled musty, the hotel felt more like a dated motel, and the door locks didn’t work, so I had to brace my door with a chair. I’m a Marriott Elite member and have always had good stays, but this one was far below par.

The location was good, with gated covered parking, and the hot tub was great. Our room was quiet and clean, though the mattress had a big dip in it. Breakfast was excellent.
