Scott Inn Suites - Downtown Houston

I left that same day, even though checkout wasn't until the following day. The owner was awful. The hotel had cold water instead of hot, and the desk clerk was nasty with no customer service. The clerk was extremely rude to my friend and me when we checked in. On the second day, we got a call saying there'd been noise complaints, which wasn't true. The only noise was the old, outdated air conditioner. The owner said he was upset about visitors coming by, including two family members. He threatened to call the cops and told my friend in the room, 'I know what you're doing in the room!' Is it a crime to have family and friends visit while you're in town? He was racist and very rude, and I've never been treated like that. I'm going to file another claim with the Better Business Bureau. If you have somewhere else to stay, I'd go there. This outdated hotel and rude service don't go together.

The room was very clean, and the hotel is close to downtown. The manager and their family are lovely people. I missed having a coffee maker in the room, though coffee was available in the office. It would also be nice if they offered snacks to take along from the office. Thank you.

The staff were pleasant and friendly, and both inside and outside were kept very clean. You can see the owner's pride in the details, from the landscaping and fountain to the cameras. I usually stay at fancy chains, so I was skeptical at first, but this place won me over. It's nice to see a family-run business still doing well in the USA. The tram out front gets a bit loud around 6 a.m., though that didn't bother me. There was no shampoo or body soap, but at this motel's price, that wasn't a big deal.

An hour before I was due to check in, my booking was abruptly cancelled with no warning. The email blamed incorrect card details, but I checked and they were right, and I had enough money to pay. I was left without a place to stay for the night in a city I'd never visited. I also tried calling the front desk several times and nobody answered. I wouldn't recommend trying to book here.
