The Westin Galleria Houston

We’re Bonvoy Gold Elite members and booked through Hotel Collection. The room we were first given had a shower door that wouldn’t close properly, so water went everywhere, including into the room. We changed rooms, but the phone button for the front desk in the new room didn’t work. The TV in the first room had also been out since check-in. An engineer came the next day at 3:15 pm, but went to the wrong room after we’d moved. At checkout, the $100 credit hadn’t been applied, and we were charged for breakfast that was supposed to come with the room package. Both were corrected, but despite the TV, shower, and room change, the hotel did nothing to make up for the trouble. We were very disappointed with the lack of room upkeep and will stay somewhere else next time we’re in Houston.

Our rooms were clean and we had no problems during our girls’ getaway. After checking in, we went shopping, had cocktails, then went out for dinner and nightlife. Just be cautious, the area can get pretty rambunctious.

Right by the 610 highway and next to Galleria, the location is great. Our room and bathroom were clean, the beds and linen were comfortable, and there were extra towels. All the lights and outlets worked, and the staff were friendly and courteous. Housekeeping could have left us more tea and condiments, though, and it would’ve been nice if the Lounge were open on weekends. I’d definitely stay here again in Houston.

I’d stayed here before, but this visit ended with me cancelling my reservation and moving to another Marriott nearby. At check-in, Amy, who introduced herself as the front desk manager, was rude and obnoxious. She caused a scene in front of other guests, and the whole thing was humiliating. She made my family feel like we weren’t the right demographic for her. I’ve never dealt with a less helpful front desk agent, let alone a hotel manager. As a Marriott ambassador member, I expected more. I won’t be back.
