Hampton Inn & Suites Hudson

I often stay in Hudson for work in the cities because I prefer somewhere outside them. I think it's about 30-45 minutes to Minneapolis, and it's a great location. There are coffee shops, cafes, and restaurants within a short walk. The rooms are always clean and quiet when I've stayed, and my one or two dogs are treated very well every time.

The pool was ice cold, and the breakfast wasn't worth a dollar, even if it was free. We went down at 7 am and were told they were out of omelettes and needed ten more minutes. Also, the shower gel bottle was empty, so we had to call down in the middle of a shower to get more.

I spent 14 years in hotel management and have traveled weekly for business for over 15 years, so I've seen billing mistakes. My recent stay at the Hampton Inn in Hudson, Wisconsin was still astonishing. I'm a Lifetime Diamond member with Hilton, but the hotel charged me for an extra night I hadn't stayed. Staff initially trusted their employee's account over mine. It took more than a week and an interrogation of the lock before they admitted the error. I contacted the general manager twice and got no response. When I eventually reached her, she was dismissive and wouldn't even tell me the name of the management company, saying to 'look it up.' In 2025, that kind of indifference is unacceptable. I had to go to the management company myself to make progress. They were more helpful, but it still took a week to get a corrected receipt, and that was disorganized enough to require more follow-up with accounting. It was frustrating and deeply disappointing, especially as a frequent, loyal guest. The way this property handles errors and treats loyal customers concerns me. I'd advise people to consider other places in the area, where staff trust guests and respond professionally when problems come up.

Deb, the Hotel's General Manager, gave me an amazing customer service experience this morning. My Employer had several people traveling to the area, and we booked multiple rooms. A double booking on our side created an extra reservation and a 'no show' fee. Deb went above and beyond to help resolve it. She was patient and very courteous. It's the best customer service I've had in a long time. All the employees enjoyed their stay, too.
