HiWay Inn Express

The front desk staff were lovely on every shift. Breakfast was simple, with muffins, cereal, and coffee, which worked well for the kids. For the price, I'd stay again.

Everything was spotless, from the floors, which had been swept and mopped, to the bathroom. The sheets and everything else seemed properly washed. The room also had an up-to-date flat screen with cable, which was a nice extra, though I can't say whether every room has one. For the price, it's five stars from me. I travel through every six weeks and plan to stay here each time now.

The motel is clearly older, but it was clean and well maintained. Our room smelled good, and the AC was already running, so it was comfortably cool. The girls were friendly and courteous, and the location made shopping, eating, and exploring easy. We arrived at the last minute on our trip and weren't disappointed. We didn't stay for breakfast, so I can't comment on it.

We booked a room with two beds, but after check-in found they'd given us one bed instead. It took a while to get the right room, and when we walked in, the smell of body odor and cigarettes was overwhelming. The room felt dirty and uncomfortable. The advertised facilities weren't much use. There's a breakfast area, but no hot breakfast; the laundry room was out of service, and only one vending machine worked, with drinks only. After my roommate spilled juice on the bed one night and asked for fresh bedding, they refused to provide sheets or a comforter, even though the lobby was empty. The hotel seemed nearly deserted, with maybe 4-6 other people there. At check-in the front desk employees were in pajamas and sweatpants with blankets around them, which didn't inspire confidence. The place felt unclean, poorly managed, and short on service. I'd avoid the Hiway Inn in Hugo, OK. There are likely better choices for the same price.
