Hampton Inn Houston/Humble-Airport Area, TX

I spent two nights at this Hampton Inn, and the combined problems made for a poor stay. The room temperature swung from very cold to too warm overnight, which interrupted my sleep. The refrigerator had no light inside, and the fire safety devices weren't clearly marked. Breakfast was stale, the bathroom ventilation didn't work well, and the shower head was loose. The towels were poor quality, with only two bath towels and two washcloths for two guests, less than I usually expect at a Hampton Inn. The most frustrating issue was access to the room. One key expired early, then both keys stopped working around 7:30 on checkout morning, even though checkout wasn't until 11:00. The front desk tried to fix them, but they still didn't work afterward, which left me concerned about getting into the room and reaching my belongings. Some issues might be minor on their own, but together they point to weak maintenance, housekeeping oversight, and front desk operations. This wasn't the consistency I expect from the Hampton brand.

No hot water on either of my first two nights, even though they're aware of the problem and don't seem to want to fix it properly. I'm here for three nights, so we'll see how night three goes. Not impressed with this Hampton Inn.

I booked two nights with points around 7 pm, then got a cancellation notice around 9 saying the hotel was full. But the Hilton app still showed rooms available, even after the cancellation. They sent no follow-up about rebooking me nearby, just the cancellation notice.

Good coffee, and the shower pressure was great. There wasn't a steam vent in the bathroom, though. Our room was comfortable and the airport was conveniently close, but highway noise could be heard in all the rooms.
